I've been working through the archives at the yahoo mag7 ficfinder community, and found a this description of what in late 2003 was a WIP
In the story, Ezra accidently finds out that Chris is replacing him on jail shift because the jail is temporarily holding a gold shipment. Ezra leaves town in a snit, and comes back the next day and is accused of stealing the gold shipment. Apparently there is a scene where Chris stands by while a townsman emties Ezra's saddlebags in the street.
It sounds like an interesting story, but the link, title, or author was never posted on the Yahoo group because the series is slash (no idea what pairing). Does this sound familiar to anyone?
