OW cowboy fic

My memory of this fic is very faint and I may be confusing more than one story but what I remember is this:

Someone has a herd of cows and the seven, or at least some of them, are hired to join the rest of the cowboys on the trail. It may or may not have been a friend of Vin's who asked them to come. It may or may not have been a mystery for them to solve along the way. The story did give a rather detailed description of the cowboy day-to-day-life and was fairly long.

Other than that the only info I can offer is that Vin is my favorite character so he's bound to have been on the trail.

It's been bugging me for a while so any help is welcome.

Some months ago, before I realized how many stories this fandom had and started to bookmark them ^o^,
I read a story, set I think in the OW, in which Vin was captured by a bounty hunter who cruelly abused him. The bounty hunter also lured boys from their families with fake promises and then abused and killed them on the trail. I think in the end Vin kills and eviscerates the bounty hunter.

I would be grateful for any help you might be able to give me in finding the story.
