vin is chris's son

I read this story a while ago and I wish I had saved it or at least bookmarked the page. Here goes my less than stellar description of the story:
Chris somehow looks at this locket that vin always has with him. Inside this locket is a lock of hair and something else (although I can't remember what). Vin tells Chris that it is the only thing he has of his mom. Chris recognizes this locket as being something very similar to what his wife had made. There is mention of Vin losing his mom in a fire and finding himself under a wagon, when he is young. Time shift winds or something very similar are also mentioned. I know this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but if anyone could help me I'd be grateful.
